According to PWInsider, former NJPW wrestler Karl Fredericks has signed with WWE for their NXT brand.
Fredricks left New Japan Pro Wrestling in August 2022 and started at the WWE Performance Center this week.
WWE is also interested in signing NJPW wrestlers Tama Tonga and his brother Hikuleo. They are the sons of WWE Veteran Haku.
At the recent NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view, Tonga defeated WWE RAW Superstar Karl Anderson to win the NEVER Openweight Championship.
In 2018, the year the LA Dojo debuted, Karl Fredericks began training there. He graduated from the dojo the following year after taking first place in the 2019 Young Lion Cup. Since then, he has been taking part in NJPW Strong matches and occasionally appearing on AEW Dark and unaffiliated programs.
At the end of 2022 Karl Fredericks took to Twitter to announce that he is no longer under contract with NJPW and has no intentions to re-sign at the moment.
As of today August 1st I am no longer under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling and I will not be re-signing with the company at this time. Though there is disappointment in the ending of this chapter I am grateful for the last four years traveling the world and growing with my best friends. I want to say thank you to the company for the opportunities and especially thank you to Shibata-San for believing in me and bringing me along his journey with the LA Dojo. Last but not least thank you to my fans and thank you to the NJPW fans for Your support over these years. I hope You will continue to support me along my path wherever that may lead
