Mercedes Moné broke the internet on January 4 when she debuted for NJPW and attacked IWGP women’s champion KAIRI which set up a dream match between the two at NJPW Battle in the Valley in San Jose, California, on February 18. This seemingly signaled the end of her association with WWE, with the former Sasha Banks thanking the likes of Vince McMahon, Triple H, and her fans.
However, officials at WWE don’t see it that way, it would seem. They feel that Sasha Banks will rejoin the company after her run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and STARDOM Moné.

This was reported by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), who said that the promotion is “very strongly under the impression” that former Raw and SmackDown women’s champion will not turn up in AEW despite rumors and speculation suggesting so. Apparently, the company also expects her to be back with the traveling roster after getting wrestling in Japan “out of her system.”
Interestingly, It Meltzer also reported that Mercedes’ NJPW deal only comprises “a couple of matches,” which means she could return to WWE in the near future is conceivable if both parties are interested in reuniting.
