William Regal recently resumed work in WWE. However, he spoke about his final months in AEW on the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip. He spoke about how he felt that he had a great run in AEW, but didn’t actually want to be on screen that much.

This is what William Regal said. “In the last months of AEW, it was getting far too much about me. It should have been about the talent I was with, not about me. I’m quite happy being in the background. All it is is grief. I’ve had my run. I couldn’t have had a better last few months as far as TV and doing that, but I didn’t go there with that intention.”

William Regal continued, “The intention was to do something different, and it started off the way it did, but I didn’t expect it to end up being this thing that it was for the last seven months where I just became talent. I went there with a different plan because I was asked to go there to help out in a different capacity, and that never transpired. Okay, I’m done.”

William Regal’s time in AEW was mostly as part of the Blackpool Combat Club. This angle was seen by many as a way that several AEW stars were elevated. At its peak, the BCC had control of both of AEW’s world titles and the ROH Pure Championship. William Regal had his final angle, by betraying Moxley and siding with MJF. However, MJF very quickly betrayed him on the first chance he got.

What did you think of William Regal in AEW? Are you glad he’s back in WWE?
