During a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Will Ospreay disclosed a list of professional wrestlers he’d like to face one day. The high-flier namedropped numerous stars from WWE, including Seth Rollins and Ricochet, while also discussing recent partnership shows like the Forbidden Door pay-per-view between NJPW and AEW that have made crossover matches possible.

What was most interesting was that the Brit has his eyes set on one particular Pro Wrestling NOAH star, as he said (per a Japanese translation) to Tokyo Sports:

“I personally hope that the political problems of each group will gradually disappear. I have the same respect for wrestlers I face in the ring, regardless of which group they belong to. It’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve been influenced the most by Marufuji. I want to fight him.”

Naomichi Marufuji could face Will Ospreay

Ospreay previously tried to manufacture a match against Marufuji in late 2021, when the Japanese star put out a tweet questioning who would face him in an upcoming bout. Ospreay responded with, “oi,” seemingly standing up as the one to do so, but Marufuji simply responded with a “smirking face” emoji, which indicated the match was not going to happen at that point.

However, with professional wrestling changing so drastically globally as of late, Ospreay noted in the interview that ‘we are at a turning point now.’
