The battle for supremacy between WWE and AEW has been pretty intense, and with Triple H now at the helm, nothing can be said for sure about who’s ahead. What can be confirmed is that both parties watch each other and care about how the other is doing, no matter that they may not say so publicly.
Bloomberg recently came out with a story about AEW’s birth and how the promotion has gained a prominent footing in the pro-wrestling industry over the last few years.

One performer interviewed is former WWE and current AEW superstar Bryan Danielson, who spilled the beans on a pretty surprising question that then-boss Vince McMahon asked him in 2020. This led to the American Dragon delving deeply into AEW’s programming, and here’s the excerpt from Bloomberg:
“Bryan Danielson, one of WWE’s top stars, says that in early 2020 McMahon called him and asked a question that shocked the wrestler:
“Do you see anything that AEW’s doing better than us?” Danielson, at home on paternity leave, spent the next two weeks watching every morsel of AEW programming and came to a conclusion: AEW committed more time to and placed more value on the craft of fighting in the ring.
WWE’s shows were often marked by long segments of characters on the microphone and short matches. “It feels like you’re watching a wrestling show without any wrestling,” Danielson told McMahon.
The former WWE Champion stayed with WWE till mid-2021 before jumping ship to AEW later that year. He made his official debut at ALL OUT and made his in-ring bow against Kenny Omega at the 2021 Grand Slam Dynamite.
Did Vince McMahon underestimate AEW impact?
