Aliyah was last seen on WWE TV during an episode on SmackDown in September, losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky alongside Raquel Rodriguez. One of the factors to have kept her out has been an injury.
However, as per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 28-year-old has been cleared for action, but since there are no creative plans for her, she has been kept off TV for an extended period. It might help her in the long run as the Canadian was clearly a step behind many of her peers prior to her injury, and this time away could help her polish her skills and come back better and stronger.
Moreover, as a relatively young star making her way up, she would have been sidelined quickly in the face of competition from the likes of season pros like Ronda Rousey, Natalya, and Shayna Baszler. There would hardly be creative plans for her in any ongoing storylines, especially with WrestleMania season coming.
Perhaps a return post Mania, when creative needs a shuffle and new faces, could do her a world of good as she returns much better in the ring and on the mic.
