Tonight’s WWE Raw was dedicated to a celebration of all John Cena has achieved in his 20 years in the business. WWE ran a couple of pre-recorded video messages from top AEW talent and friends of Cena AEW stars Paul Wight, Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson also sent out their video tributes for Cena.
Sean Sapp reported over at Fightful Select that WWE contacted AEW for allowing their talent to film video messages for Cena and that Khan had no problem giving them permission to do so.
Pretty cool that @TonyKhan allowed talent to send well wishes to @JohnCena over on the other show. RESPECT. #AEW #WWE #RAW pic.twitter.com/k9vtFbZSTn

June 27’s WWE Raw saw a very unique situation, with AEW talent Paul Wight and Bryan Danielson appearing during John Cena “congratulations” videos for his 20 year anniversary.
We’re told that the situation was very straightforward in making it happen. The idea was pitched, and then AEW founder Tony Khan was contacted in order to see if he’d be okay with it.
Given the circumstances surrounding the videos, he was said to be okay with the videos and provided approval. A WWE source told us that they were able to land virtually everyone they hoped to for the “congrats” videos. These instances have been few and far between since AEW launched in 2019.
