In the weeks leading up to the AEW Full Gear 2022 pay-per-view, it was teased that MJF will soon be a babyface and the fans certainly had the superstar as over as he could possibly get with Dynamite show after Dynamite show hearing the “MJF” chants.

However, that didn’t happen. MJF cheated with an assist to William Regal and some “brass knuckles” to win the AEW World Champion from Jon Moxley at Full Gear and is a full-blown heel.

MJF celebrating in a way that feels so totally perfect for him. Later on at the Media scrum, after a short rant about being the best wrestler in the world, he told people to tune into the MJF show every wednesday on TBS. He then said, "thank you, F*ck you, bye."
Thank You – F-You – Bye

According to the Wrestling Observer, there were plans for Maxwell to be the top babyface after Full Gear, but AEW President Tony Khan canceled those plans at the last minute:

“Multiple people have noted to us in the past week that there were discussions regarding having MJF be the lead face coming out of Full Gear. It was my intuition because the company needed a new hot babyface and making a top babyface today is far harder than a top heel.

That said, Tony Khan made the call and at this point, the absolute worst idea would be to turn the MJF face now because that window has closed at least for many more months down the line.

It might have missed its peak and all, but who can say where things will be in six months or a year.”

MJF will defend the AEW World Title against Ricky Starks on next week’s AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.

Would an MJF Babyface run have been a better move?MJ
