The Acclaimed won the tag team championships yesterday at Grand Slam. They’ve spent years working on every bit of programming they could get on. Whether it was Dark, Rampage, or Dynamite. Finally, their time had come.
They faced and defeated Swerve in our Glory at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. For many fans, this is a long time coming. After Max Caster got suspended for cutting one of his rap promos and mentioning some controversial topics. It seemed like they weren’t going to go anywhere. A metaphorical glass ceiling seemed to be over their heads.
It was a rematch between themselves and Swerve in Our Glory from All Out 2022. The battle was all but confirmed at the All Out 2022 Media scrum, even though certain events prevented that from catching a lot of notice.
Anthony Bowens made a point to state that he is the first gay champion in AEW history. In wrestling in general, there have been few LGBT wrestlers to win titles of any kind. This victory makes him something of a trendsetter.
Congrats to the Acclaimed!
