All Elite Wrestling star Saraya has addressed the departure of William Regal amid speculation he’s heading back to WWE.

The 30-year-old legend, best known to fans as Paige before her WWE contract expired earlier this year, joined Tony Khan’s AEW promotion in September before winning her first match in five years at Full Gear last month and she has opened up on the response to her fellow Brit’s exit.

Speaking exclusively to, she said: ‘Everyone has an opinion on that. The reality is, it doesn’t have anything to do with anything backstage, it’s to do with how he feels.’

The former Divas Champion, who is back as a wrestler five years after a then-career-ending neck injury, explained that people backstage know the reasons for his exit, although Regal is yet to comment publicly on the matter.

‘Us behind the scenes know why, and we’re happy for him! Whether he’s going there or whatever, it doesn’t matter. We’re just happy with whatever he wants to do with his life,’ she smiled.

‘He’s at the age where he can do whatever he wants to without the internet deep diving into it, or everyone saying this, that and the other about him. Who cares? Let him be happy!’

Saraya also praised boss Tony Khan for giving people freedom, and generally being understanding about personal situations.

‘Tony’s so fantastic too. He lets people do – not do whatever they want, but he’s so open minded to how people think. If you’re having a bad day, he’ll be like, “take a day off,”‘ she said.

‘If you only want to do a certain amount of time on your contract, you can totally do that. He doesn’t have you locked in where you have to stay for this amount of time, he’s great. I’m very lucky to have the boss that I have.’
