Even if she might want to join AEW, a former WWE Superstar might be prevented from doing so.
Rumors about Mercedes Moné possibly joining Tony Khan’s roster immediately following her abrupt departure from the Stamford-based promotion inundated the professional wrestling scene. However, to begin her new stint outwit the WWE the former Sasha Banks appeared in the Japanese scene, she later appeared at the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event and later joined NJPW.

The Boss hasn’t discussed why she passed up the opportunity to go up with AEW, but Meltzer suggested two possibilities in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“It is notable that she only made original commitments through April and didn’t sign with AEW. We don’t know the terms of her release and it’s possible to get her release she couldn’t sign with AEW because obviously she’d be a huge pick up for AEW and it hasn’t happened yet for a reason either meaning she doesn’t want that long-term commitment in AEW or can’t go there.”
