NXT 2.0 Results: No.1 Contenders crowned; Superstar suffers loss on debut
The go-home episode of NXT 2.0 before TakeOver: WarGames surely delivered

Toxic Attraction and Dakota Kai got into a brawl with Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray, Raquel Gonzalez, and Cora Jade as NXT 2.0 kicked off. The fight headed to the ringside area before we headed for a bout that would give the winner’s team a massive advantage at WarGames.

Ladders were set up around the ring and Ray hit a big Superkick using one. Kai dodged the early finisher and dropped KLR on the steel ring steps. They fought over a ladder before Dakota was sent into the steel steps as well.

Ray sent Kai into a ladder before setting up a ladder in the ring. KLR tried to climb it but was dragged down by Kai. Kay Lee Ray was on the apron before Kai hit the double stomp to the outside.

Kai took a KLR bomb on the announcer’s desk before heading back to the ring to stop Ray from climbing the ladder.

Kai nearly got the briefcase but something made her turn around and hit a double stomp on Ray.

Kai went up the ladder once more before being dragged down. Kai’s foot was stuck on one of the rungs of the ropes when KLR picked up the win by grabbing the briefcase.

Result: Kay Lee Ray def. Dakota Kai

Andre Chase was backstage at NXT 2.0 and said he would get his revenge on Cameron Grimes for insulting him in front of his students last week.


The Grizzled Young Veterans were trying to break into some lockers backstage and got caught by Jacket Time and Briggs & Jensen. GYV ran off as Briggs & Jensen wondered about what their plan was on NXT 2.0.

Cameron Grimes vs. Andre Chase on NXT 2.0

Cameron Grimes had the early advantage but Chase managed to turn it around and sent Cameron into the turnbuckles before hitting some big kicks as NXT 2.0 continued.

Chase’s students were watching the match and Andre was distracted as he started showboating and allowed Grimes to get back in control. Cameron got a big counter before hitting the Cave In on Chase for the win.

Duke Hudson showed up after the match and showed Grimes some new hairstyles he could try after their Hair vs. Hair Match at WarGames. Hudson showed his final pick and he said he would fully shave Grimes’ head.

Cameron ran out of the ring and dragged Andre Chase back in before getting out some hairclippers from under the ring. He was about to shave Chase’s head but one of his students saved him. Grimes said that he would do the same to Hudson on Sunday before walking out.

Grade: B


Edris Enofe showed up in a short video package and it showed that he was in the military before he joined NXT 2.0.

Team 2.0: Melo, Trick, Tony D’Angelo, and Bron Breakker were in the ring as NXT 2.0 continued. They called out Johnny Gargano and the rest of the veterans and took turns to trash-talk about their WarGames opponents.

Bron Breakker was announced as the man who would compete for the new blood in tonight’s WarGames Advantage Match. Johnny Gargano was the representative of the veterans.

He came out and challenged Breakker to come to the ring alone for the main event. Bron accepted it.


MSK reached the tag team shaman after five weeks but the promo cut out just as the man was about to be revealed.


Von Wagner & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Legado del Fantasma on NXT 2.0

Wagner and Mendoza kicked off the match and O’Reilly was tagged in early on as they isolated Raul in the ring. The tag was made and Wilde came in for a double team before getting a few near falls.

Wagner came back in before Xyon Quinn walked out and stared down Elektra Lopez and Santos Escobar. After a break on NXT 2.0, a brawl broke out between Quinn and Escobar as the match went on.

In the ring, O’Reilly and Wilde slugged it out and Wilde got a big DDT. However, Wagner and O’Reilly tossed Mendoza out of the ring before pinning Wilde off a double team.

With the win on NXT 2.0, Wagner and O’Reilly became the new No.1 Contenders for the Tag Team titles.

Result: Von Wagner & Kyle O’Reilly def. Legado del Fantasma and will face Imperium for the NXT Tag Team titles at TakeOver: WarGames.

Joe Gacy was out next on NXT 2.0 and brought out three other superstars to help him train for his Cruiserweight Title match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.


Joe Gacy vs. Promotional Talent on NXT 2.0

Gacy got a quick takedown with the first opponent and hit a big boot. Gacy tossed him around for a bit before getting the pin. Gacy hugged his opponent after the match before calling in the second opponent but Diamond Mine interrupted the match.

Bivens taunted Joe but he refused to talk to him, calling him aggressive and asked to speak to Roderick Strong directly. Strong got in the ring to talk to Gacy and attacked him but Joe countered and ran behind Harland.

Solo Sikoa vs. Edris Enofe on NXT 2.0

This was Enofe’s debut match on NXT 2.0. Sikoa had the early advantage and Robert Stone was at ringside, taking notes.

Sikoa got a few near falls before kicking Enofe down in the ring. He got a spinning slam before Edris came back with a standing moonsault.

Sikoa got another near fall off a senton as NXT 2.0 continued but Enofe came back with a big dropkick.The debutant got a crossbody off the ropes before hitting a DDT and climbing the ropes.

Sikoa dodged the dive and hit the Samoan Drop before getting the Splash for the win.

Result: Solo Sikoa def. Edris Enofe

Boa attacked Sikoa after the match and choked him but Enofe saved Solo before getting caught in a choke himself. Sikoa sent Boa out of the ring before he and Enofe stood tall in the ring.

Grade: B


Backstage on NXT 2.0, Indi found out that Dexter Lumis was missing from the hospital.

Persia Pirotta & Indi Hartwell vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon on NXT 2.0

Indi was zoning out as usual and her opponents capitalized by catching her in a leglock. Hartwell took a dropkick before nearly being pinned.

Pirotta finally got the tag and came in to take her opponents down quickly with the Snake Eyes and spinning TKO for the win.

Johnny Gargano vs. Bron Breakker – WarGames Advantage match on NXT 2.0

Breakker got a big stalling vertical suplex early in the match on NXT 2.0 before Gargano sent the young star outside and hit a big dive. The ladder was set up and Breakker tried to climb before being taken down by Gargano with a slingshot spear. Johnny Wrestling then dropped the ladder on him.

Gargano sent Breakker over the announcer’s desk with a dive before we headed for a break. Back on NXT 2.0, Breakker pushed the ladder into Gargano and took him down before hitting a Belly-to-belly suplex on the ladder.

Breakker lifted a ladder with Gargano on top of it but Johhny rolled out. However, he took a Frakensteiner. Both men climbed the ladder and Breakker was taken down by Gargano but Bron came back and dropped him one last time before picking up the briefcase.

The two WarGames teams attacked each other after the match and the show went off the air with the brawl still underway.

Grade: B+


Episode Grade: A

We got a great go-home show before NXT TakeOver: WarGames on Sunday. Tonight’s NXT 2.0 saw two ladder matches while Imperium’s title challengers were revealed. Boa attacked Solo Sikoa after a match while Xyon Quinn will lock horns with Santos Escobar on NXT 2.0 next week.
