Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that, as per WWE insiders, Nia Jax should be a part of the women’s Royal Rumble match on Saturday (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats). As one of the most powerful women to ever grace a WWE ring, the Samoan is no stranger to this match, although she missed last year’s edition.

She also made history by becoming just the fourth woman to enter a men’s Royal Rumble match in 2019, which arguably remains her biggest moment in the titular match. In that contest, she momentarily dominated before taking a 619 from Rey Mysterio and an RKO from Randy Orton, leading to her elimination.
Jax was let go by WWE in 2021 and has not been seen with another major promotion since. If she is to return for the upcoming premium live event, it is now known if it’s a one-off appearance, although she could have something more substantial under Triple H’s guidance beyond the Rumble.
Nia Jax declined an invitation to compete at last year’s Royal Rumble
Former WWE superstar Nia Jax recently discussed her future as it pertains to wrestling. Jax, who now goes by her real name, Lina Fanene, was released by said promotion last November.
Fanene was interviewed on the Wives of Wrestling podcast and, while she didn’t rule out a return to the ring, said she doesn’t see herself going back to being a full-time wrestler.
“I always said I would never wrestle again,” she was quoted as saying by WrestleTalk.com. I don’t know if I’d ever, I don’t think I’d go back to full-time wrestling because it was, it’s cra*y because now they have it different, but it just took a lot.
“It took a toll on me, but I wouldn’t mind going back and doing like a fun little story and, you know, putting somebody over whatever it like, something like that.
“I think, you know, I gave a good amount of time and now I’m like, I prefer to just god willing get married and have kids, you know.”
Fanene has confirmed she declined an invitation to take part in the Women’s Royal Rumble this year.
