It looks like every pro wrestling fan’s biggest New Year’s wish is coming true, and no, it definitely is not a secret anymore. DAZN’s Steven Muehlhausen has reported that Mercedes Mone is set to partner Saraya next week in Los Angeles to face Britt Baker and AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter.
This has been one of the biggest rumors over the past few weeks, but AEW could not reveal the identity as being Mone as she was under a no-compete clause until recently. But now that the former WWE superstar is a free agent, things are getting clearer.
Sources: Mercedes Varnado will be Saraya’s partner next week in #AEWDynamite in LA against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Couldn’t announce or make a major hint due to her being still under contract to WWE until the beginning of 2023.

The former Sasha Banks broke the internet yesterday when she debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17. She attacked KAIRI and they will now battle for the latter’s IWGP Women’s Title next month in San Jose.
Since NJPW and AEW have a healthy working relationship, it is believed that Mone will honor a few dates with the former while also debuting next week on Dynamite. This is a sure-shot giveaway that she is also contracted to Tony Khan’s promotion.
Saraya alleged picked her opponent last night but suspected to be a work
During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Saraya, Toni Storm, and Hikaru Shida sat down with Renee Paquette and the former Paige spoke about AEW having the best wrestlers in the world.
Saraya then picked Toni Storm as her partner against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter and her decision came as a huge surprise to Renee and Shida.
This would be a completely pointless build and hype for multiple weeks to just drop it in casually during a backstage segment like this.
