Matt Cardona made an appearance on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast earlier this week. The former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion talked up how 2022 has been awesome for him, wanting a return to WWE, and his infamous GCW World Championship bout with Nick Gage, among other things.

Cody Rhodes’ torn pectoral muscle

Right off the bat, the former Intercontinental Champion revealed his feeling about his friend Cody Rhodes’ torn pectoral injury and the beloved and legendary Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins earlier this year.

“He had to do that match. Was it the smartest for his health? Maybe not, but it was such an iconic moment. And it really showed that he had the balls and passion for pro wrestling. I think he gained a lot of people’s respect if he didn’t have it already.”

Regarding his upcoming business in the ring, Matt Cardona should tag with Brian Myers to take on IMPACT World Tag Team Champions Motor City Machine Guns at the Hard To Kill PPV on January 13, 2023. More intriguingly, he has not been afraid to send out teasers of a possible Royal Rumble return, giving fans hope that he’ll be back in WWE soon enough.

Interestingly, Cody’s highly-anticipated in-ring return is also rumored for the 2023 Royal Rumble, and he is a firm favorite to win the men’s titular bout. Perhaps w can see a showdown between the two old buddies in the middle of the mythical gimmick match come January.
