Eight Superstars released by WWE last November 4 are now today officially free agents.

As of February 2, 2022, the wrestlers are out of their WWE non-compete clauses, and free to sign with promotions such as AEW, IMPACT Wrestling, and NJPW.

Let’s take a look at some of the stars that could be welcomed into AEW and make a huge impact on the promotion.

8. Keith Lee.

Keith Lee has popped up on Twitter a couple of times since the start of the new year, showing off his fully-grown beard while teasing what’s next for his professional wrestling career. Lee, despite being heavily decorated during his time in NXT, found himself released by the WWE back on Nov. 4

Lee is also known for his appearances with Ring of Honor, as well as on the independent circuit with promotions such as Evolve, All American Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

While Keith Lee has expressed interest in reuniting with his former tag team partner on the independent scene, it would be foolhardy to suggest that Tony Khan wouldn’t have his eye on the former WWE star. Lee may not have reached the top of the mountain in WWE, but the options in AEW are plenty.

7. Franky Monet a.k.a Taya Valkyrie

In action in AAA

A prominent star in IMPACT Wrestling, Taya followed her husband John Morrison into WWE. It seemed the perfect place for them to shine, but her time in WWE was short-lived. Taya’s tenure lasted only 8 months. She did have some success in NXT as Franky Monet, getting title shots at the NXT Women’s Championship.

But before WWE, Taya had massive success in places like Lucha Underground, IMPACT Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. While Taya did make her return to AAA on December 4, it remains to be seen where she will end up.

Keep in mind that AAA has a relationship with AEW. It wouldn’t be outrageous to think Taya could appear in AEW.

She was a classically trained ballerina. She had trained in gymnastics and studied dance since age four and went on to study at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. In 2005, began competing in fitness competitions and doing fitness modeling. Placing 1st in CBBF Canadian Championships 2010, 2nd in the Arnold Amateur in 2011, and featured in several fitness magazines and calendars over her fitness career.

6. Karrion Kross

Karrion Kross is a wrestler who has it all. Thanks largely to a diverse wrestling style and dominant persona, he quickly rose through the ranks. Kross won the NXT Championship less than seven months after his debut, becoming one of the more popular wrestlers on the black and yellow brand in the process.

Kross’s debut in NXT and subsequent title reign are proof of his incredible in-ring skill. As seen from his matches in WWE, he’s effective as a brawler and suplex specialist, able to blend an almost MMA level of submission holds and rapid-fire kicks and elbow strikes to his opponents.

A competitor with as diverse and unique a wrestling style as Kross could make for some incredibly physical matches when paired against the right opponent.

Unfortunately, the 36-year-old’s success in WWE was short-lived. After a lackluster debut and gimmick change on the main roster thanks to Mr. McMahon thinking he knows best.

While WWE may have dropped the ball with Kross, AEW could easily benefit from having him appear on its programming, along with Scarlett.
