WWE Superstar Kevin Owens will be teaming up with former world champion John Cena to take on Sami Zayn and the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns on the 30th December episode of WWE SmackDown.
Owens is very familiar with John Cena as they squared off against each other back in 2015. Owens registered a victory in that match which was his first on the main roster.
During a recent interview with TMZ, Kevin Owens recalled the moment when he stood against John Cena in the ring. He also went further to praise his journey alongside long-term friend and current rival Sami Zayn.
“It’s kind of c-azy, you know it’s all kind of full circle. I started with John when I came to WWE, and now he’s going to be my partner against Sami. Me and Sami have had so much history in WWE, let alone our entire careers. To be in that kind of situation now together, it’s all just so surreal. I’m just grateful for the chance to experience that stuff.”
John Cena Amazing WWE Streak
Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, it was revealed that John Cena would team up with Kevin Owens to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the December 30 episode of the blue brand. There was already confirmation that Cena would appear on the year-closing broadcast of the long-running show, but the fact that he will wrestle has gotten fans incredibly excited.
Also, given he will play a part in the ongoing Bloodline-Owens-Zayn storyline, one that has become incredibly over and turned Zayn into the best part of WWE TV, fans can’t wait to see him return to action. However, that is not the only reason to be excited about John Cena return.
It will be the 16-time world champion’s first match in 2022, with fans last seeing him in action on WWE television at SummerSlam 2021 where unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for his Universal Championship. This means the December 30 episode of SmackDown will ensure Cena has competed for WWE every year since making his main roster debut in 2002, which is quite an incredible feat.
