The untimely passing of ROH World Tag Team Champion Jay Briscoe was discussed by Matt Hardy on the most recent episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy.”

Jay Briscoe, 38, died in a deadly vehicle accident on Tuesday night close to his Laurel, Delaware, home.

Matt read out a text message from his brother Jeff Hardy that contained the bad news. He stated:

“One of the first texts I saw whenever I woke up from napping and heard this, just, awful news was from Jeff. He just said, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you heard about Jay Briscoe. I hope you’re getting to where you’re going tonight safely. I love you, and I hope you’re good.’ It’s very important to tell people that you love that you love them because you never know when your last day can be.”

Is broken Matt Hardy Returning due to Jeff Hardy Absence?

It seems that Matt Hardy is at least thinking about bringing his well-liked Broken act back to television.

After performing the gimmick briefly in 2017, months after making his comeback to the WWE with his brother, Jeff, at WrestleMania 33, where they won the Tag Team Titles, Hardy initially began performing it in Impact Wrestling.

It started out as a deranged version of Matt and gradually changed into a “broken universe” with various supernatural components. Instead of being “Broken,” he was “Woken” in the WWE.

As he made his AEW debut in March 2020 with that gimmick, Hardy had already been Broken. By the end of that year, he had reverted to his “Big Money” monicker despite maintaining that character for a few months.

In a previous interview, AEW President Tony Khan expressed his opinions on the fight, stating that he found some portions of it to be a little overwhelming.

Broken return?

The gimmick might be coming back, though, since Matt appeared to momentarily assume his Broken identity in the most recent Being The Elite episode before the lights went out.

Is Matt Hardy making a return to this gimmick as they have a knowledge that Jeff is not returning?
