Jay Briscoe died in a terrible car accident, as reported by Dave Meltzer. As of the time of his passing, Jay was the Ring of Honor Tag team World champion with his brother Mark Briscoe. He was 38 years old, and leaves behind a grieving family, including his brother.

Tony Khan tweeted the following, “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”

Wrestlers from all over the world have tweeted tributes to Jay Briscoe. It didn’t matter if those wrestlers are in AEW or WWE, or have never been in either. There is an outpouring of support from across the wrestling world. This included WWE, who acknowledged his passing on tonight’s episode of NXT. Triple H acknowledged his passing as well, with his tweet.

Triple H tweeted, An incredible performer who created a deep connection with wrestling fans across the globe. My condolences to the family and friends of Jay Briscoe..”

Jay Briscoe is an absolute legend of tag team wrestling. But more than that, he’s like a forefather of Ring of Honor wrestling itself. The ROH brand changed independent wrestling forever. Jay was a part of that. His contributions to the wrestling world will live on forever.

To his fans, his friends, and his family. Our heart goes out to everyone. Our condolences from Dirtsheets.
