Jamie Hayter, the AEW Women’s Champion, was a notable absentee on this week’s AEW Dynamite, and the reason why has now been made public.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Hayter missed the event because she was back at home in the UK taking care of visa matters:

Jamie Hayter

Meltzer stated –

“Jamie Hayter, she wasn’t on the show this week. She’ll be back pretty soon, but what happened is she had to return to England for visa reasons, to get her visa renewed and everything like that, which is something that happens.

“All of the foreign talent in WWE from time to time, they might disappear for a couple of weeks every couple of years for this. It’s all worked out and it’s all fine, but I’m not sure which week she’ll be back. But she’s not there right now.”

Britt Baker on Jamie Hayter

The DMD discussed the current AEW Women’s Champion with the New York Post during an interview to promote the recent AEW Revolution pay-per-view. Baker was questioned about stepping aside for Hayer, who had previously supported her when she was the champion, during the interview. The highlights from her full remarks are shown here.

Britt Baker states that Hayter deserves to be in the spotlight:

If the roles were reversed, Jamie was always helping me. I had the belt and I was the center of attention. Once the role is reversed, why would I not be there for her right now too? It’s time for Jamie to have the spotlight and the title and for Jamie to have the big push. I want to be right there in her corner for all of this too. It’s not fair for me to just ditch her and be on her own right when she gets center stage.
