Jake Roberts has been acknowledged as one of the great wrestlers on the mic. He was known for his intense promos in the 80s. His style was in direct contrast to the common 80s wrestling promo. Jake used very little shouting, instead having low serious tones. Jake Roberts would like to help some AEW stars today, improve their craft.
This is what Jake Roberts said on his podcast,
“There’s not much interaction with the younger talent. There are a few guys at AEW that welcome me being there. Everyone is kind, don’t get me wrong, but that’s it. I’d like so much more. I wish AEW would use me in a position where I was helping people with interviews because I do know how to do that and I can certainly help a few people that are struggling, and there are a few that struggle. You can always get better on interviews, you’re never great.”
There are some standout stars in AEW when it comes to mic skills. The current AEW World Champion, MJF, is seen as one of the best on the mic right now. However, there are always guys who could use a little more help. As Jake Roberts says, it never hurts to try to learn more.
What do you all think? Should AEW create an opportunity for Jake Roberts to help more stars with their mic skills? Should more AEW wrestlers take advice?
