Taya Valkyrie, the world tag team champion for Impact Knockouts, is allegedly leaving Impact Wrestling soon.
According to a recent PWInsider story, there is a perception among Impact employees that Valkyrie will soon leave the organisation. There has recently been “significant interest” from other businesses, most likely WWE or AEW.
It was rumored that Valkyrie would decide to join AEW rather than WWE after her stint in WWE NXT as Franky Monet didn’t go so well. Just the February 14–November 4 period of 2021 was covered by that run. Some people were surprised by the release of Valkyrie as a result of COVID-19 budget cuts, but others were prepared for it because of the way she was billed on the WWE roster.
Aside from being the first MLW World Women’s Featherweight Champion, Valkyrie is also the current AAA Reina de Reinas Champion. She won the MLW title on May 13, 2022, and the AAA title on April 23, 2022, respectively, however the match wasn’t shown until June 16. If Valkyrie went back to WWE, she would probably have to give up those belts initially, but if she joined AEW, she could be able to extend her AAA reign.
At the SuperFight event on February 4, Valkyrie defeated Billie Starkz to successfully defend her MLW title. Her next title defence will take place on April 6 at the MLW War Chamber event, it was just revealed this week. Delmi Exo will be her opponent. Exo recently agreed to a singles contract with MLW and stated that their objective is to win the championship. There is currently no information available regarding Valkyrie’s upcoming AAA title defence, however she last did so on October 15, 2022 at Triplemania XXX: Mexico City by defeating Kamille, the reigning NWA Women’s World Champion. Since Bound For Glory on October 7, Valkyrie and The Death Dollz have held the Knockouts World Tag Team Championships. Their upcoming title defence has not yet been announced.
Taya Valkyrie is still a free agent in the competitive wrestling market
In a recent interview with Fightful, the former IMPACT Knockouts Champion and current MLW Featherweight Champion discussed this subject and talked about how the industry has evolved significantly as there are now other players in the market. She stated.
I’m still a free agent and that’s because I’ve just been having a really good time. I’m going everywhere, like you said, and working consistently with all these companies. I have mentioned this before; one of my goals for this year is really finding where I want to be for a long period of time. So when the time comes, when it’s the right fit, that’s definitely something I’m going to be looking into. But for now I’m having a really good time working everywhere and meeting all these different people and working with different producers and working with different wrestlers and exploring the world of professional wrestling again.
