AEW has seen a lot of ups and downs this year, but it still holds a certain value among fans and wrestlers heading into the new year. However, one French-Canadian broadcasting station doesn’t seem to see it that way.
A report by Slam Wrestling has noted Quebec announcer Jean-François Kelly stating that French-language station RDS will not carry AEW Dynamite from next year. He did not comment on the news but added that he has been part of RDS for 25 years and that the decision to stop running the weekly episodic wrestling show was not an easy one.
“It’s been exactly 25 years since I’ve been in RDS. This decision (that I can understand) by management to cut AEW wrestling show is the hardest one for me to take.”
The La Lutte à RDS Facebook page also confirmed the news, thanking fans for tuning in to watch their broadcast for so many months.
” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us tonight and the past few weeks. Sadly, Dynamite tonight was our last broadcast of AEW in French on RDS. Due to budget constraints, unfortunately we won’t be back in 2023. Thanks again to everyone who joined our fall dates, see you next time, hopefully. The wrestling team at RDS.”
Dynamite started airing on this channel in August of this year, accompanied by French commentary. AEW has not commented on this decision yet although it is likely soon, along with an update on a new broadcasting partner.
