Drew McIntyre has been out of action with an injury for a few weeks, the WWE star says he wants to come back as soon as possible. Two-time WWE champion made an appearance on WWE’s The Bump on Wednesday (h/t Smita Singha Roy of Ringside News) and gave an update on his injury status:

“I appreciate everybody checking in. You know Drew McIntyre is not at work; there’s a reason, but I can tell you all I’ll be back very very soon. There’s a certain season on the horizon — WrestleMania season — I’m not gonna miss that.”

WrestleMania 39 happens in April, although the season itself usually begins around the time the Royal Rumble happens in late January and ends at the Showcase of the Immortals. If things happen quickly and the Scotman’s recovery happens sooner than anticipated, then fans can potentially see him return to action at the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Interestingly, WWE has not yet announced what exact injury McIntyre suffered, although Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc’s Matthew Wilkinson) disclosed that it was legitimate.
