During the previous week’s episode of Dynamite, Callis had faked an injury after a confrontation with Adam Page in the ring, which raised suspicions from Kenny Omega, his former tag team partner. However, in St. Louis, Callis seemed to have a different approach as he provided an explanation to Page, claiming that he lost his balance and slipped. He then extended his hand to the former AEW World Champion.

After Don Callis offered his hand to Adam Page, the Blackpool Combat Club attacked Page from behind, leaving Callis standing with his hand still outstretched and taking no action. Jon Moxley eventually intervened and punched Callis in the jaw, causing him to collide with a nearby lighting rig and start bleeding on the floor.

Wrestling Observer Radio’s Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer reported that Callis had to be taken to the hospital for treatment but fortunately, there were no signs of a concussion. Despite being injured, Callis had to be “put back together” after the incident.
