Another of the worst-kept secrets in wrestling is out. Cody Rhodes will be competing in the Royal Rumble. This was confirmed by WWE’s very own Twitter account.

WWE Twitter said, “The American Nightmare [Cody Rhodes] has officially declared for the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble Match!”

Cody Rhodes himself said, “At The Royal Rumble, I AM BACK!”

It’s rumored to be very likely that he’ll be entering at number 3. For Cody Rhodes to enter in at number 3, isn’t a coincidence of any sort. The Rhodes Family and the Flair Family have a longstanding history. It’s possible that if Cody is set to win the Rumble, then Triple H has deliberately selected him to be in Ric Flair’s own spot.

31 years ago, Ric Flair came out at the number 3 spot, and Gorilla Monsoon declared that Flair wouldn’t make it. Ric then won the match. Perhaps there could be an effort to die directly into that, with Cody.

Cody Rhodes, one year ago, Cody was set to face Sammy Guevara at Beach Break to unify the TNT titles in a ladder match. He would end up losing, leaving Sammy as champion. This would be his final match in AEW. Several months later, he appeared at WrestleMania. Cody took the world by storm with an incredible debut that lead to a trio of matches with Seth Rollins.

The last of these was at Hell in a Cell. Cody Rhode suffered a pectoral tear before the match, and incredibly, battled through to have what some considered WWE’s Match of the Year.

Now, it’s 2023, and we’ll all waiting to see what WWE has in store for Cody Rhodes. Will he finally achieve destiny in WWE?
