Have you ever heard of Action Andretti? Unless you follow Combat Zone Wrestling, probably not. Chris Jericho just lost to him on Winter is Coming. It was a surprising match, as it was set up like a squash match. The crowd chanted “Let’s go Jobber” as they didn’t know who he was either.
In some ways, this is similar to WWE’s 1-2-3 Kid victory over Razor Ramon in 1993. Chris Jericho was coming off of a loss at Ring of Honor Final Battle, and was expected to pick up a win, even if the match was competitive. Instead what happened was a newcomer to AEW picked up a win in a hard fought match that even saw him pick out of a Codebreaker.
Action Andretti appears to be at the start of what might end up being a great career. He showed he had the skills in the ring, and his first match will follow him in a great way, from here on out.
