MJF is riding high after becoming the AEW world champion, and he’s not letting people forget this major accomplishment anytime soon. The Devil again rooted his own horn recently by sending a message to fans while preparing for his first title defense.

Having won his first AEW world title in November at AEW Full Gear against Jox Moxley, The Salt of the Earth has run roughshod on the roster, constantly also reminding people about his supremacy. He recently took to social media to claim that fans were jealous of him and that ‘he would pillage the industry by his 30s and leave it.’

Last night on AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming, MJF successfully defended his world championship against Ricky Starks. Of course, he used a low blow to get the win at the pay-per-view, and it remains to be seen how long he can continue with his merry, antagonistic ways.

AEW Star MJF Plans Scrapped

According to the Wrestling Observer, there were plans for Maxwell to be the top babyface after Full Gear, but AEW President Tony Khan canceled those plans at the last minute:

“Multiple people have noted to us in the past week that there were discussions regarding having MJF be the lead face coming out of Full Gear. It was my intuition because the company needed a new hot babyface and making a top babyface today is far harder than a top heel.

That said, Tony Khan made the call and at this point, the absolute worst idea would be to turn the MJF face now because that window has closed at least for many more months down the line.

It might have missed its peak and all, but who can say where things will be in six months or a year.”

MJF will defend the AEW World Title against Ricky Starks on next week’s AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.

Would an MJF Babyface run have been a better move?
