The Rock has been mooted for one final match, most probably a Head of the Table clash with cousin and WWE undisputed universal champion Roman Reigns, at Wrestlemania.

With Mania season rolling around, it remains to be seen if the megastar can take time out of his busy film schedule to make it to California.

One update that could help fans figure out his participation status came from Ringside News, who confirmed ‘with a tenured member of the creative team’ that “The Great One will not be at the Royal Rumble.” However, they could still see The Rock in 2023 down the road.

Roman Reigns facing The Rock at WrestleMania 39 is still on the cards

Ringside also confirmed a few months back that The Rock is a “virtual lock” for WrestleMania, most likely to face Reigns. Hence, him missing the Royal Rumble doesn’t mean he won’t be seen come The Granddaddy of Them All.

With The Most Electrifying Man All of Sports Entertainment reportedly set for a downtime in his movie career to focus on the XFL relaunch in 2023, he could use the time to make it back to WWE for that one final bout.

Having it against Reigns in a passing of the torch moment would only enhance the moment that much more.
