As the years have passed, Lucha libre has started to gain popularity in countries other than Mexico and the United States. That includes AEW, which is home to Andrade El Idolo and the Lucha Brothers as well as former AEW Tag Team and Trios Champions Rush and Bandido.

El Hijo del Vikingo, who will make his AEW Dynamite debut this Wednesday against Kenny Omega, Komander, Metalik, who is presently doing Ring of Honor tapings, and other guests are not taken into account.

AEW Luchadors

Prior to making his own trip to Mexico for the Lucha Libre World Cup, AEW head of talent relations Christopher Daniels sat down with Wrestling Inc. in an exclusive interview on the likelihood of further luchadors joining AEW.

“Certainly possible,” Daniels said. “Komander just came in and did that Face of the Revolution ladder match, impressed a lot of people. He was super impressive. Vikingo, goes without saying, we’ve been trying to have him as a part of our programming for a while now and we’re very fortunate that the schedules opened up to allow this match coming up with him and Kenny.”

Daniels then spoke about the possibility of more Mexican Luchas appearing in AEW in the future.

“So yeah, I feel like when opportunities arise, when schedules permit, I feel like you could see a Komander, you could see a Vikingo, you could see any of these guys, Bandido, returning, Rush being featured. Any of those guys could be on Ring of Honor or All Elite at any point,” said Daniels.

Is AEW right to go down the Luchadors signings route?
