It was recently confirmed that William Regal had left AEW and is on his way back to WWE to work under long-time friend Triple H, although when he returns to the latter is anyone’s guess.

He was written off AEW TV after being viciously attacked by new world champion MJF last week, and Tony Khan seemingly closed the character’s chapter with the company last night on Dynamite.

For those unaware, Regal was interviewed by Tony Schiavone — his friend of 30 years — and it served as a way for him to say goodbye and share his final words of wisdom with his former Blackpool Combat Club stablemates.

Regal also explained why he turned on Jon Moxley and aligned himself with MJF at Full Gear last month.

What Regal said on AEW

“I realized several months ago that the main members of Blackpool Combat Club didn’t need me around anymore. I’m surplus to requirements as they say, but I knew they wouldn’t let me go.

But I needed to show them why they didn’t need me, and why they can teach Wheeler [Yuta] to be the best professional wrestler in the world because they’ve all got that [mentoring] capability.

But you have to lead by example – and hopefully, Jon Moxley, who is a very calculating man, will understand this.

The reason I did what I did was to teach you the final thing I could ever teach you – always stay one step ahead and make sure you keep your eyes on the back of your head. I’m Blackpool Combat Club to the day I die. Fellas, it’s been emotional.

It was quite the speech, and Moxley himself seemed emotional after witnessing it.

He then cut an impassioned promo, with Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta watching on beside him. The former AEW World Champion also seemingly hinted at a name change to their stable

“The three men in this ring live and breathe for the sport of professional wrestling.”

Moxley ended the segment by declaring that BCC would end its “war” with the Jericho Appreciation Society at ROH’s Final Battle. At this pay-per-view, Castagnoli and Yuta will challenge Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia for the ROH World Championship and ROH Pure Championship, respectively.
