Over the years, female wrestlers in WWE have carved a success story worth every praise.

They’ve displayed immense strength, high-flying maneuvers, and expert mic skills. From the greats of the past in The Glorious Mae Young and The Fabulous Moolah to the young guns on the current roster in Rhea Ripley, Toni Storm, and Liv Morgan, the list goes on.

WWE’s female superstars have become worthy show-stealers. The response they receive from the WWE Universe is second to none.

In this article, we dive into the five most popular female wrestlers in WWE history.

Honorable Mention – WWE Hall of Famer Chyna

WWE Hall of Famer Chyna was one of the most dominant and brutal female superstars to step foot in the squared circle.

The Ninth Wonder of the World was one of the founding members of D-Generation X with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Her performance as a singles competitor is worth every praise. She’s the first woman to participate in the Men’s Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring Tournament.

Chyna was also the only female superstar to win the prestigious Intercontinental Championship on two different occasions, beating Jeff Jarrett and co-holding the title with Chris Jericho. She also decimated Ivory at WrestleMania 17 to win her maiden WWE Women’s Championship.

With such accolades, she certainly topped the popularity charts with the WWE Universe.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has been one of the most popular and gifted superstars in the squared circle.

The Canadian star has achieved feats second to none in her decade-long career. She is a former seven-time WWE Women’s Champion as well as a former Hardcore Champion. Her feuds with Victoria, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson, and Lita have been one for the ages.

On the 25th anniversary of RAW in 2018, Trish Stratus was honored as one of the greatest female superstars on the red brand.

WWE Hall of Famer Lita has been immensely popular right from her Team Xtreme days with Matt and Jeff Hardy.

Her high-flying moves and risk-taking abilities kept fans invested. The four-time WWE Women’s Champion had memorable feuds with Trish Stratus, Victoria, and Gail Kim.

Apart from her impressive in-ring ability, Lita has also been appreciated for her promo cutting skills, making her the complete package during her time in WWE.

# WWE Superstar – Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks is currently one of the most talented performers in the ring and on the mic.

The former six-time World Champion, as well as two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, has made numerous opponents, including Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Alexa Bliss, submit to The Bank Statement.

Such has been her popularity that she was honored as the Woman of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2015.

#2 WWE Superstar – Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair is the true Queen of WWE. Her popularity has been consistent, despite portraying a heel or a babyface.

The current SmackDown Women’s Champion is in her record sixth reign. She has laid countless opponents to rest with her in-ring athleticism and brute strength. Charlotte was at the forefront of the Women’s Revolution back in 2016 when she defeated Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch to become the first WWE Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 32.

The Queen has also carved her name in the Tag Team division as a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka.

Like Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair was also bestowed with the Woman of the Year honor by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2016.

#1 WWE Superstar – Becky Lynch

The ovation that Becky Lynch gets from the WWE Universe is second to none.

The Man has dominated a host of opponents, with the latest casualty being Charlotte Flair at the recently concluded WWE Survivor Series.

The former Royal Rumble winner is currently in her second reign as the RAW Women’s Champion, apart from holding the SmackDown Women’s Championship on four occasions.

Her likability has been so massive that she was voted the Most Popular Wrestler by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2019. Apart from this honor, Becky has also won the Woman of the Year by the same magazine in 2018 and 2019.
